Kenzie Ellis (they/them, b. Seattle, 2004) is a trans, nonbinary artist currently living in Bellingham, WA on Coast Salish land. They work through performance, duration and place-based forms as well as photography, installation and poetry. Their work is concerned with exploring themes of remembrance, resistance, gender and counternarrative. Their work often intervenes in systems of dominant ideology, creating experiences of challenge and disruption.
Ellis holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Western Washington University where they earned a self-made degree titled: “Aesthetics of Resistance; Socially Engaged Writing and Art”, combining studio-art practice, counternarrative writing and socially engaged art.
